From over 5,000 initial entries, What’s on Bristol presented Samantha Beames the winner of the Face of Bristol 2010.

150 girls were selected by the general public to go through to the semi final where each chosen contestant was photographed and interviewed by a panel of 3 judges from a top London agency.

Only 25 girls were then selected to go through to the grand final at The Cadbury House Hotel.

The final took shape in the form of a stunning catwalk compared by Jed Pitman and 12 girls were congratulated as the finalists.

Samantha accepted her title as ‘The Face of What’s on Bristol’ from boxing legend Jane Couch and will appear along with the 11 finalist in the ‘Face of Whats on’ 2011 calendar with proceedings going to the Frenchay After-Burn Unit local charity.

Each year the statistics produced from the Health and Safety Executive remind us just how important having the right safety solutions can be.

There are over 2000 falls from vehicle accidents reported each year. Major injuries from these falls include broken arms and legs resulting in weeks off work. In construction over 70% of these accidents happen to non-drivers. 90% of falls are from below head height. Source: HSE falls from vehicles

d20 are committed to providing the latest and most up-to-date safety equipment to all of its operatives, therefore have implemented the TRAILARREST system for the loading and unloading of flatbed trailers. This is a unique, user friendly system and all operatives involved have received full training in the safe erection and use of the equipment.  We are now using this to unload our reinforcement deliveries.

Variphone Ear plugs are being used on Yeovilton Air Base to filter  noise as an alternative to cutting all noise, this allows D20 Limited operatives to work in safety, hearing plant, machinery and speech while cutting out the high level noise from the adjacent operating aircraft.

Reinforcement tying wire reels are now used across all d20 limited contracts; his eliminates all trip hazards from loose bundles of wire.

The reels are delivered to site, ready to use. They clip onto a work belt, where small strips of wire are cut when required and when empty are returned to the manufacture for refilling, resulting in minimal waste.
